One of my inside speakers started sounding like it was blown out, so I removed it to take a look and found a 4 inch screw stuck to the magnet. It had been moving around and cut up the foam which fell into the speaker filling it up with foam. Cleaned it all out and it sounds great.

Interesting...the control box above the tv is snows down copious amounts of styrofoam during any trip on the road. If I go off road the amount is even more...I’ll be looking for any stray objects...screws nuts washers...thanks

I'm trying to figure out where a 4" screw is used.

It is closer to 3 inches, looked big on the speaker.

That is a cabinet screw used in RV construction. Usually screwing together modules that are partially assembled. Think wardrobe cabinet, pantry, bathroom module, and so on.

It's quite possible it was stuck to the speaker during assembly.. Just random stuff on a bench or in a bag/box, that didn't get noticed during install in the ceiling.

That was my guess, I don't see how it could have got there any other way.

That makes sense. I know I have old speakers in the shop, that have hardware stuck all over them.
