I am not sure how this site works. My husband and I have been doing research on travel trailers and have decided that the r-pod 179 is the one for us. Anyone have suggestions about buying one? We are actually thinking about renting one for a short weekend so we can see how it works out. I need all the suggestions I can get. Thanks, Muffy

We have a 179-been using it for 3.5 years and love it. It has plenty of storage, a great kitchen and tows well. It is perfect for 2 people. there are lots of opportunities to customize the pod to make it more  compatible with your style of travel.
This board has a lot of very experienced owners and most are happy to answer questions and give advice. Feel free to ask away-we were all new owners when we started. There are no stupid questions-just problems/concerns to be fixed.
Welcome

We bought our RP179 in December, 2015 and have used it extensively. I've also made a lot of modifications to make it better for our use. The link in my signature leads to them if you want to take a look.

Tundra is a great tow vehicle, plenty of capability for a 179. If you can rent one somewhere great. You'll need a brake controller in the Tundra if you don't already have one. Are you trying to decide if you are comfortable towing a trailer or just whether the 179 floor plan works for you?

If its towing, it probably doesn't matter too much what trailer you rent. You can get the 179 into most campsites but don't expect to go off roading with it.

If its the floorplan the two things that can make someone want a different model are the wet bath and the bed access. Be sure you're able to take a shower without feeling too cramped (some owners remove the little sink) and that you don't wind up getting your sleep disrupted by climbing over each other all night. Other than that, there's little to complain about with the 179.

Thanks for the info. We have the truck. Do you have any information on rentals of an r-pod 179? Or, any for sale in or near North Carolina?

No info on NC rentals. That might be pretty difficult to get accomplished. We're in SW VA and in the process of buying a small farm so not likely to have much time for camping in the future. So, we plan to sell ours but not right away as until we move we'll need a place to stay for occasional overnights at the new location.
