Very helpful. At the moment I am thinking about making a small roll-up shade and attaching it with Velcro on the top of the little upholstered valance above the door. It'll match the shade I made for the rear window. I'm very excited about this project.

Here's a link to the Amazon listing for the cross bars.  The upper one I installed just below the curve in the screen door.  https://www.amazon.com/Camco-Screen-Door-Cross-Handle/dp/B0012GTVVA/ref=sr_1_1?crid=LXKXPNCV1AFE&dchild=1&keywords=camco+screen+door+crossbar&qid=1594494782&sprefix=camco+screen+d%2Caps%2C213&sr=8-1  We just drape a piece of the curtain cloth that we used for the other "blackout curtains" over the upper bar.  We've hung a towel there too and it works.  Just keeping it as simple as possible.

I had added one of those to our door recently. It works well. I would not have thought to use one as a curtain rod though.
