Topic: Hitching to the TV Posted: 18 Aug 2020 at 8:06am |
I've been using white grease or silicone spray on the ball before hitching to the Pod. Is this a good idea? Or is it over-kill?

A little grease goes a long way on the ball, really I think it just helps keep the noise (squeaking) down

Really? Could you please be more specific about "grease?"

I think just about any grease would help. Only take a dab. I used some a year or so ago.

+1. I have a small toothpaste-tube of white lithium grease I keep in the toolbag for this (and other incidentals). Just like Brylcreem, a little dab'll do ya.

Grease/lube is a must. I don't know any manufacturer that says " we recommend no grease or lubrication on 2 moving steel parts". Some grease might be better than others, but, any is better than none.

We use a white lithium spray lubricant on the ball before we attach the pod. I wipe it off when we unhook so that it will not accumulate trash or dirt. It keeps both the ball and receiver clean and helps reduce friction and noise. I have seen lots of trailer balls with scars and escratches that came from embedded grit without lube. A lot of people cover their trailer balls with tennis balls when not in use.

Well now, this depends, is it a male or female R-Pod.
