Topic: Refrigerator UGH Posted: 04 Oct 2020 at 6:26am |
So went to work on fridge yesterday. Nothing more than to blow out the propane area because it wasn't working as well as it used to. Removed the cover plate and inserted compressed air into tube leading to burner.... Nothing more done.... Then went to test, nada no power to fridge on battery. Lights work, another battery used, slide works, all fuses checked.... It literally was working before removing the aluminum covering and unplugging the power from the electric socket. Did not test on electric because it is in storage.... but really don't think any differences would be had. All lights on fridge are dead.... please tell me I did not kill my fridge...

Too early on a Sunday morning to do all that.
Have a nice cup of coffee, wait till the sun comes up a bit, then try again. Often time heals all....
I suppose it could be you lost the dc ground connection when you took things apart. Try reassembing and see what happens.

So in looking at the manual it appears there is a ground attached to the burner. Since that is the area I messed with and did have some trouble removing the shroud, that HAS to be the area to look at. I just don't remember seeing a ground attached to it...

Yeah, I think that you're probably on the right track. You could add a new ground connection of your own temporarily and see if that brings up the fridge control panel.

I feel your frustration. My fridge works perfectly on 120VAC and propane but when I switch over to the battery, it just won't work. I've tinkered for weeks now. Everything else works fine off 12 volt D/C and my RV battery is brand new. Frustrating as hell!

Yeah told my wife yesterday.... damn I used to be so good at this kind of stuff.... Older I get the less I can do.... Was very frustrated with the damn thing.... but I think it HAS to be something with the ground.
