+1  Mine is mounted vertically inside a HF box where my batteries are located on the a-frame.  Has worked that way really nice for the past 4 years.

If you look close, there should be a small vent hole.  You need to keep it facing so dirt or water doesn't get in it thus preventing the diaphragm from operating.

sorry about the empty quick post.
My question--
I am thinking about rearranging my A Frame/tongue layout. 
does the propane regulator have to be in a horizontal orientation or can I mount it vertically?
I can't find any references to this question.

here is the regulator as seen from above
I want to mount it vertically on the spare tire mount
any thoughts or suggestion?
