I burned out the Highpoint microwave/convection oven in my R - pod 178.
My dealer (Affordable Truck & RV in Medford, OR) says they have no replacements in Stock and have been waiting since January for a microwave ordered from Forest River.

Does anyone know of a source for replacing the Highpoint or some other unit that could be used as a replacement?

Great reason to reclaim that space as storage...which is what I did.

Obviously you were using it, but how? Did you use the convection part? If not, why not install a residential microwave? You might get some space for cookbooks or or other useful stuff.

since the m/w is plugged in to a standard 120v outlet, you should be able to use any m/w that will fit.  The m/w that come with the pods have a trim kit that fills in the spaces on the top/bottom/sides to make it a flush front.  the space is really just an open shelf that is plenty large enough for many different models of m/w's.

Thanks for the helpful suggestions.  My local RV repair guy says that standard microwaves are not built to withstand the rigors of being towed around the country.  If a standard m/w is used, he says it needs to be secured separately during towing.

I found a replacement at Amazon and will likely go with that.

The trim ring is more than just to close in the space.  It holds the convection-microwave in place, but does more. The High Ponte convection-microwave has ductwork on the outside that carries some of the heat away so it can be vented through the slots in the trim ring. How effective that is is a different question. We are on our third one. The first was replaced because the tone generator that makes the tones to let you know that the cooking is done was barely audible. The second was replaced at the factory when they said the one failed a test. This one has been reliable.

We have not used the convection part much. Most of the time, we could get by with a straight microwave. However, it is nice to have the capability, even if we don't use it often.

The first thing I did when I got the Rpod in 2015 was remove the microwave. It's been sitting on a shelf ever since. Check the measurements and if it will fit your space you can have it if you'll pay for shipping.

Ours is the High Pointe convection/microwave. The trim piece measures 24"×16.75". If your stored microwave is the same size and still works, we might have a deal.

They weigh about 47 pounds...shipping will not be cheap. But good luck!
