They were especially loud today. I wonder if it is the sex-crazed zombie cicadas who's butts fell off?! It's a thing.

The one reason it is good to have a nice loud air conditioner.

I thought those cicada's were loud until last year when my wife and I were in Guyana S.A. last March 2020.  There are bees that make a buzzing/ringing sound probably 5x louder than any cicada (as in the video above).  If I can post a video on it I will.

I definitely do not want to hear those bees! The heat really brought out the cicadas today. Just walking across the yard they are flying into me.

Using a NIOSH app, which is supposed to be very accurate, I just measured:

Measurement results
Measurement time (hh:mm:ss)   00:01:13
LAeq   97.3 dB
Max. level  101.8 dB

That's nuts!

Yep, them are loud little things, and it is supposed to be a big year for them...We haven't heard any up here yet on Tomiko Lake but with the expected very warm weather (for us, it is warm. For those of you down south it would only be a mildly warm temp!) it will be any day now. At that decibel reading you need hearing protection when going outside.
