It looks like Canada might open their border soon so I'm thinking my Canada/Alaska trip may be back on. I have a 2016 172 with the original tires so I guess I may need to upgrade for the trip. Any thoughts on what tires will be best? I have Coopers on my Tacoma and love them. I appreciate any feedback.

I like Carlisle Trail HD tires, load range D, on my 179.

Probably any major brand ST tires would be fine.  +1 to TheBum's preference for load range D.

I hope your plan works out and the borders open...that would indicate things are going well up here.

I too can vouch from my own experience with the Carlisle's.

Many on this forum love their Goodyear Endurance tires as replacements for their trailers. I would consider them a premium option but definitely very good option with stiffer sidewalls.

Another note I like to add, as many do not have their trailer tires balanced...it is a good idea as far as I am concerned. Just like we balance our TV tires, trailer tires are smaller and therefore spin even faster. It will cut down on vibration as well.

I'll check out the Carlisles, but I live in a small mountain town and they may not be available. I will go for load range D.

Same, just purchased our first set of "D" rated tires for our 177.  Always had "C" before.  This makes the 3rd set after 10+ years of ownership.  Appears to track and ride better, especially noticeable over bumpy and uneven roads. 

Definitely get all 3 tires speed balanced, safer and smoother ride.

I purchased three Goodyear Endurance D rated tires the year before our 2019, 50 day, 9000 mile trip to Alaska. I had the tires balanced and had no tire issues. The trailer seemed to tow better with the D rated tires.
