'Ridge'  is the slang term for the 'pokey out doohickey' on the plug.

Always be mindful of the doohickeys that poke out.

My two cents, If you damaged both male and female connections, then you also have melted some wires either in the camper or the truck.  I would have someone look over both the truck and camper.  They may be able to also find your short.

+1. And if youve been dragging your connector on the road there is probably more missing than just the "ridge". The time that happened to me I had half a connector left after less than half a mile.

Did you have your battery disconnected at some point? Is it possible that when you connected it again, that you got the polarity backwards? I think that would be a possible explanation of what happened. Please check the battery connections to make sure they were/are correct. Check the two 40A fuses in the power center. If they are blown, then it is highly likely that the polarity was reversed at some point.

Could you tell us which picture, vehicle or trailer,  and which connector is burned?  Sorry for the huge picture, but finally got it with outstanding help from furpod.
