Hello all! We recently sold our touring Harley and pu4chased a 2016 RPod 180 in hopes that it will offer the adventures we once had with the bike. I've never owned a camper, actually, we've never camped, so this is a totally new thing for us. We just got the 180 2 days ago, and haven't had it out of the driveway yet.
Anyway, I have a ton of questions, but at the moment, I'm in look, listen, and learn mode. |

Glad to have you aboard and welcome to your 24/7 owners manual. What is you tow vehicle? As much as I am a HD fan, it would be problematic to tow your 180 with it. Ask away, am sure you will get a lot of good advice/answers from those 'seasoned' podders.

Currently, I have an '09 Nissan Frontier Pro4X.
My 180 came with a Blue Ox weight distribution/anti-sway rig. Having never owned a camper, after watching the video on than rig, I don't have near the hitch weight (290 lbs.) for it to even be effective. Do you guys use a similar set up? |

I towed our former RP-179 with a Nissan Frontier LX for many thousand miles. The Blue Ox is a good choice. I used an Equal-i-zer.

I have a 2016 180 and tow it with a '15 Xterra Pro-4X. I towed thousands of miles with just a friction sway control, but found an Anderson hitch on Craigslist and use that now to get some more weight on the front end. The X's short wheelbase needs it more than your Frontier. Unless you're towing your 180 completely dry and bare of other equipment, your hitch weight is likely much more than 290 lbs. That's the dry weight spec. Enjoy your new lodging! We stepped up from tent camping and it's relative luxury for us. |
