Big smile We got out and visited Double Lake near Livingston, Texas in February. The weather played nice and we all had a wonderful time dispite the 23 degree weather the week before. The first site we picked backed up to the lake but the shore was unimproved, so it only took about five minutes to discover it was not the site for us. My eight year old found his way down and sunk up to his knees in the mud. Luckily we were just starting to set up camp and we pulled out and moved on to greener pastures (after hosing him off, of course). Here are some shots of the site we got. It was mid week, so most of the sites were available. Big smile

Emma's rockin' her mom's new boots. The pink quad next to the 'Pod is our new TV. Tongue

For some reason the kids had the most fun in the leveled tent area full of pea gravel. They probably spent 1/4 of the time in there.

Emma rockin' dad's hat. Do you sense a theme here?

More time in the pea gravel.

Grass was pretty sparse, but not bad for the middle of February! Ermm

We had to get out to try out my new Dutch Oven. We did all the cooking in the dutch ovens. Rattlesnake Beans, Sloppy Joes, Monkey Bread, and Pineapple Dump Cake. I love dutch oven cooking!Star

Camping is fun all the time.  BUT, when you have small children it is hard to beat!  Kids have fun no matter what.  Great pictures BTW.

Two adults and three small(er) children in an R-Pod - must be interesting in foul weather!

It looks like everyone's having a great time.

Everyone having fun is priceless.  I can't wait for the weather to warm up and get the pod out.

Yes, our last trip was in November, and the weather was less agreeable then. We wore jackets most of the time, and it rained most of the time. Not necessarily a downpour, but anywhere from a light drizzle to a soaking drip. The youngins got kicked out to sit under the EZ up awning more than once. They love to spend time inside, and who can blame them.

Next up should be Cagle Federal Recreation Area, on the north end of Lake Conroe, March 14-17 probably. We're trying out all the sites close to home. Sad we had to miss the roundup at Huntsville State Park last year. I still haven't been there, so that's on the agenda, as well.
