Thanks for weighing in. I thought Suburban was a bit over the top with that advice. Could you let me know where you got the screens? I haven't found anything remotely like them on line but then again sometimes it is trying to find a needle in a haystack! Again, many thanks for your advice.

I got them from the local dealer here, wish I could remember the brand name. The round screens were ready to install. The fridge vents needed to be trimmed to fit, then plastic tie strapped in. It took a little work, but worth the effort.

I'm too cheap to buy the real thing. I just purchased some fiberglass screen at Lowes and cut it to size, afixing with hot glue. It may not look spectacular, and it may not be permanent, but it gets the job done. No Mud-dobbers!

ToddsPod,
You may want to check that hot glue come summer time.  Silicone won't melt in the heat!

While the screens themselves may not restrict the flow of air the manufacturers of the appliances are probably concerns for those individuals that might overlook the maintenance/cleaning of the screens. They are speaking the the nation as a whole never knowing where one would be traveling. In certain locales the screen can easily begin to clog with pollen and then the issues would present themselves, like carbon monoxide buildup due to incomplete combustion.
If you have the screens then just place them on your to-do list.

I got my screens on amazon. I also have one for the other vents by the water heater. I've had no problems with them.

There may be circumstances where the screens may clog. I have not had that happen in the years we have had them on our RPod. I have them on the vents for the furnace (two small round ones), the water heater (one square and one larger rectangle) and on the refrigerator vents.

+1  For us the screens keep out undesirables like bees, wasps, spiders that can wreck havoc with the combustion chamber and vent stack.  No issues at all since putting these screens in place.
