Thanks for the pictures/post!  It looks like you had fun.  Last weekend was my first out (this year) also.  Like you, I had to deal with rain.  But, like others have said, a rainy day camping is still great.

You really won't have a problem with your black tank.  It'll easily take a week (if not two) to fill it with a family of 4.  The grey tank, on the other hand, will likely fill in two days if you're taking short showers.

I got a chuckle at the champagne bottle, nice way to celebrate your new 'pod.  Unfortunately the tank sensors just aren't that accurate - they go as cheap as possible and accuracy is sacrificed as a result.  I've found the battery and fresh water sensors are good but the gray and black tanks you have to guesstimate.  Only the toilet empties into the black tank and you can see when it starts to fill up the pipe when you flush so that's your warning to empty it right away.  Over time you'll get a sense for how long the tanks will last.  We've gone an entire week by using the bath house for most daytime restroom trips when we are already out of the 'pod anyway.  A full weekend of dry camping and always using the 'pod's toilet isn't a problem either.  The low point for the gray tank is the shower basin.  With full hookups you can leave the gray tank valve open so long showers aren't a problem (until you run out of hot water), and when dry camping we can get 4 Navy showers out of the freshwater tank - and since the fresh and gray tanks are the same size its impossible to overflow it.

If you have full hookups remember you can NOT leave the black tank valve open.  You must wait until the tank is mostly full to ensure you get a good movement of water to flush out the contents.  If you leave that valve open all the time the solid contents will dry out and ruin the tank.  When I know my black tank is getting full I'll close my gray valve and get a couple of showers in to fill it up, because you want to dump the black tank and then dump the gray tank to flush out your sewer hose.  Then re-close the black valve and leave the gray one open again.

Thanks for the pics and it's true,  any time in the Pod is better than sitting at home.

and a few more...

Another shot of our droopy rdome.

Deception Pass as seen from the west side of the park.

Aside from the rain, it's a very beautiful park.  The water moving the through the strait at tide changes is incredibly violent creating white and water and lots of action - fun to watch.

And this time I remembered to resize my photos  :-)

Ok...I actually only have a few photos...I thought I took a lot more...

Here is pod-o-saurus in our driveway

Enjoying some champagne...at least for the adults.

And a feeble attempt at setting up the rdome.  by the way, forest river has apparently listened to everyone as the rdome was pretty easy to slide on the rail...only took a few minutes and I never had to adjust screws or add gel to make it easier.

Next time I'll spend more time at setting up the rdome so it looks better and not so droopy.  I'm assuming it's because I didn't stake it and fully connect it to the rpod.

As for mods...I added a shampoo/conditioner/soap dispenser into the bathroom - works great.

I added one 3m brass command hook under the thermostat.  I added a 3m organizer (I believe it was meant for spices) into the bottom bunk.  Other than that it gave me a reason to spend a bunch of money on stuff like corelle plates/bowls, small toolkit, new pots/pans, tumblers and few other items.

One question:  should the grey and black water tank gauges ever be accurate?  I assumed they would be on my first trip, but after one night it showed both tanks as 2/3 full...we didn't flush that much!  Aside from washing hands and dishes I don't see how we put 20+ gallons into the grey water tank.  If the gauges are not dependable, are there other methods for seeings how full your tanks are?

Paul

Pod-o-saurus,

It rained on our first trip out with Just Poddin' Along (176T). We looked at it as a great test for leaks?

I agree that camping in the pod in any weather is an adventure not to be missed. If you were home and it was raining, you would just be home and it was raining!
