Hello everyone,

My husband and I just got an RPod 177 and we love it! We have taken it out three times thus far. We bring our four chihuahuas and our conure. I have a couple of questions for the group:
1. Is there a list so that one knows when people have posted? I see that you can ask for email notifications for a particular topic, but I can't see how to get email notifications for any activity on the list.
2. Are there other folks in New Mexico? Are there get togethers in New Mexico?
3. I'd love to find out more about the dome.

thank you!

Congratulations and welcome to the group! Smile  I wish you many happy journies in your Pod.

I'll defer to Admin regarding the "notifications".  There are usually many posts per day, on several subjects.  I (and I suspect many) login frequently and just click on "New Posts" - near the upper right corner.  It will then show you all new posts, since you last checked in.

The Dome - some like it, some don't.  There is some set up/take down involved.  I'll defer to those who use them to offer more.

PS - It's always nice to see another "K-9" camper.

Congratulations and welcome!

Like David, I just use the New Posts button in the upper-right corner.  There are several dozen posts every day and an email notification would soon clog my mailbox and my BlackBerry would be chirping constantly.

We have a dome, but find it too time consuming to put up and too fiddly to use (zipping up and down, rolling up the sides) once it is up.  We do set it up when we're camping with friends and we'll want the space because its cold or rainy.

Thanks for the replies, everyone! I didn't notice that "new post" button, but will check it from now on. Thank you!

I have another question about the dome. We're also looking for some way to let our dogs play while not on leash while we're camping, and that's one reason we were thinking about the dome. Does it extend all the way to the ground, all the way around, so that small dogs can't escape beneath it? Or is there a gap? Thanks again!
p.s. We have thought about bringing ex-pens but they seem just really heavy and unwieldy, and since our dogs are so small, they kind of seem like overkill.

Welcome.  Star

I may end up in New Mexico at some point when I travel across the country with my Pod.  This forum is the best thing since sliced bread.  I've already learned so much by being here.

P.s.  I love the snow on the ground in your picture.  Tongue

Hi and welcome to the joys of podding and this forum.
The dome does not cover the pod side, there is a separate piece of netting that runs in the groove along the bottom of the trailer. The corners and bottom of the dome itself require a bit of assembly to end up with an escape proof containment. Adding the netting increases the number of seams that have to be closed. We are debating whether to devise a system to contain our long haired Siamese, an indoor guy. Probably some sort of lightweight fencing around the perimeter would work best, but that inhibits human movement as well. Maybe a portable electronic fence is type answer.....

Thanks again for the replies, and thanks Chris and Walt for the detailed response about the dome. It's starting to seem like maybe the dome is not in the cards for us; I agree, some kind of lightweight fencing would be really good!
