I really had no problems on the Interstates, on some of the smaller roads we just slowed down a bit, but we got up the hills. I'm getting about 10MPG. On the days we want to make some ground we generally travel about 450-500 miles/day. That allows time for a couple of stops.
We made it to Yellowstone's Edge RV Park, just north of Gardiner. MT and the North entrance to Yellowstone. Just a couple of new pictures today. http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.2073943560471.2115710.1001397336&l=bef7177759 We plan on staying here for a week. |

My TV is of similar engine configuration to yours, so I would like to hear how the hills and mountains were. What kind of gas milage are you getting? How many miles and hours are you driving before you bunk down for the night? Thanks for the information and enjoy your trip.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience and pictures. I too am going to take that trip to Yellow Stone in my future, so your thoughts and experience is very illuminating for me as well. Some of those pictures are breathtaking.

Today we traveled to Devils Tower then across Montana on rt212 through Northern Cheyenne and Crow lands to the Little Big Horn battle site. Staying at 7th Ranch RV Park in Garryowen, MT. This place is spotless!
We can now see hints of the Rockies in the distance. I also had the high honor of meeting Chief Joseph Medice Crow in a local cafe. A Bronze Star recipient for his actions in WWII, He performed the 4 required coups to be named Chief during the war. He also is a recent recipient of a Presidential Medal of Freedom. I met him once before in Wash. DC. What a thrill to see him again. He's 98 years old. New pictures http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.2073943560471.2115710.1001397336&l=bef7177759 |

So, happy you made it to the Mammoth Site. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did. Great pictures. Back in the day, I used some of my pics and info from there in some lesson planning. I, too, taught 5th, and 6th, and 7th and 8th, and 4th, and 2nd. Somehow I missed 3rd grade during my 33 years in the classroom.
Treasure your time with your school kids, as it sure seems to go fast!

Thanks for the feedback! I wouldn't dare take the pod on the Needles hwy. To tight and too many narrow tunnels. Not a good idea,
Mammoth dig site is located in Hot Springs, about a 40 min. drive south of Rapid City. We chose to camp close to Rapid City because it's centrally located. We are at the Flying J campground. We are literally on the side of a terraced hill overlooking the city. Today we visit Deadwood and Sturgis I've started a new page for photos, http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.2073943560471.2115710.1001397336&l=bef7177759 |

Wow!!! Great pictures; I really enjoy following you on your adventure. I check your album several times a day for update photos. Keep the pictures coming.
A couple of questions for you; !: Did you stay at any of the campground in Custer State Park, if so how was it ? 2: Did you take the R-pod through any of the tunnels in Custer State Park? 3: Where is the museum with the Mastadones located ?
Thanks
Tom
