We will be heading down the road for some 'pod-less car camping on Thursday, to hopefully see the final shuttle launch on Friday.  So far the weather forecast isn't favorable, but if all goes well it will lift off at 11:26 am.  For those that followed my last adventure down and back, we'll be doing the same thing - camping on the side of the road in Titusville, FL - but this time the whole family is coming.  I would of course prefer to bring the 'pod and there is plenty of space there for it, but the difference in gas ($200 vs. $900) makes it a no-brainer for this short trip.  If we were staying a week like we did in April I would take it.

Then when we get back its back in the car the next day for a week at the beach.  Maybe even same-day if we are delayed down there.  This time with the 'pod.

Enjoy! I got assigned for jury duty this week. So we made a weekend arrangement in the PineBarrens... Give those brave people a wave and a prayer for us.

On our way, 3 1/2 hours in, currently passing Richmond, VA.  Just over 24 hours until launch.  Latest update from NASA is a 30% chance of favorable weather this time tomorrow, and looking at the weather forecast conditions have worsened on Saturday so we may have the same chance that day if things are delayed by a day.  I was really hoping for clear skies so I could see it go all the way - unlike last time where clouds at 5000 feet only let me see 15 seconds, but I'll take what I can get.

I love wireless data, whoda thunk 10 years ago someone could be cruising down the road getting updates and making forum posts at broadband speeds?  I was happy with my first phone in 1994 when it could get me online at 4800 baud!

Well if they can send people up into space, sending info from a moving car doesn't seem that unachievableLOL
