Photog, that awning really looks good.  This week I just placed an order for a custom-made awning.  It is made in the spirit of the vintage awnings on the old teardrop trailers. Mine will be only 6' 4" wide so as not to get into the downward curve of the awning channel.  I hope I won't find that too small, but at least it will be a good cover over the door.  As soon as I get it I will post a picture.  It will look similar to these pictures below.  I know for a fact that the red and tan striped one you see is for sale - it isn't really pink although it looks like it in the picture.   I hope the lady, Kristi, who makes them won't mind me posting her pictures so I am posting the link to her website to make sure.  These are her photos.

I picked a striped fabric that I thought would match the new RPod graphics.  I can't wait until mine comes and I am keeping my fingers crossed I will get it by Labor Day because there are prior orders that have to filled before mine.

Yes, it does slide into the track on the Pod.  If you are really interested, go to the website I posted and send an email to them - that's what I did.

Here are the specs for mine:
"Custom 6'4" x 6'4" awning with 8" scalloped valances on three sides, a 5/16" vinyl welt for the trailer's edge that fits into 3/8" diameter c-channel, four reinforced corner pockets in the facings on the underside to hold the shock cord poles, an elastic strap centered on the underside to slide poles through for centering, awning material is Sunbrella 4944 Blended Green Tailored Bar Stripe."

I have to buy the adjustable height poles (9 ft) tent poles, rope and tighteners myself.  Walmart carries them sometimes, but I ordered my poles from Cabelas.

I think the awning's old fashioned look kind of suits the R-Pod, don't you?

MJ, I don't think the problem is with you iPad. I see the pic just fine on mine. Don't know what it might be (I just use the darn thing, I won't claim to understand it).

photog - in your pic it looks like you are camped right on the road?  Unusual.  I like your awning, too.  How do you like your new camper?

HuronSailor, Outbound -- ANYONE OUT THERE -- HELP!!!!! . . . .

About the 3/8 inch vinyl rope - that's what I had sewn on my beautiful custom awning -- but it's too small for the C-channel on my 2011 R-Pod - the awning rope pulls right of the channel, doesn't fit snug at all.  I know FR had issues with the channel - so did they widen it or what?  I know it is now flared at the end - but that's not the only place the awning rope is pulling out.

Jeez, what do I do now?!!!

One of the problems that I for see is the curve of the top starts just over the right side of the door, which means that it can get in the way when the door swings open. I solved this on my custom made by adding a poll on the the outer edge. Look forward to checking your pictures out when you get your new awning.

Most people had a problem getting the welt to slide through the C-channel.  My problem is it goes through TOO easily and comes right back out!  I don't get it.  It's 3/8" welt.

What is the width of your track? ours is an '11, but a very early one, I will measure tomorrow and see what size it is.

Worst case you could get up on a ladder with long-handled adjustable pliers and try to narrow the opening.
