I'm not sure, I'm not even sure that is the reason behind different ones, it may be only a color issue for all I know.  I would call this number and they can probably answer that:

We had risers put on before we picked our 176 up last year.  The R-Dome works fine.

The only "effect" risers would have on the dome is to move the mounting rail.. and of course the whole trailer, 4" or so higher.

Undoubtedly, there are a few campsites out there where that *might* make a difference in it's reaching the ground, but I don't think a person would run into them that often.. and we found because the pod is so small we can move it around the setup area pretty easy to get the dome where we want it..

Ours worked fine this past summer after we added the risers.

The lady did want to know which 177 we had, and asked for the VIN.  She indicated there are different rdomes for the hre and non-hre.  I'm guessing it's because of the risers, but maybe color scheme as well.  I'll report back when we get it next Tuesday and let you know.

Well I did actually call the factory, they do sell it for $530, and ship it for $20.  We're going camping with my brother and sister-in-law for thanksgiving so it will get it's first trial then I think (deep fried turkey, yum).  Sounds like that would be a good time to use it as I'm expecting some dampness.  And maybe it might provide some wind shelter for dutch ovens?

And $12.8k, dang I wish I didn't read that.  We did talk them down a bit but you got a better deal than me, good for you.  Ours is a 2012 hre, with everything but bike rack and rdome, for about 5k more than that.

Don't know about an HRE, but we did buy, in July of this year, a 2011 177, everything but the axle risers and bike rack, $12.8k....
