Just wondering if anyone has installed an additional brake light say above the back window.  I bought a nice LED strip and am trying to figure out the best way to tie it in with as few holes as possible. I got some skinny wire track that adheres with double sided tape if I don't want to go thru as not sure if I could fish a wire down thru the wall.

HAS ANYONE EVER FISHED  A WIRE THRU THE OUTSIDE WALL?  How did you do it?

Or was thinking could use a couple feet of track to bring wire to side and tuck it in the seam cover which you can pinch open/closed, but than I still have to make a hole in it.

Any help is appreciated. THanks.Confused

I read that in Canada they require the light in the upper back of the pod, I wonder if you could contact a Canadian Forest River dealer and see if there is a kit/instructions on how to, good luck, let us know what you find.

I think you should hold off on doing that until a decision is made by the National Transportation folks about a recall on our back lights.

Terry is the NTSB involved ? if so we may be getting a freebie, I think it would be a nice feature for safety, and am I correct in my reading that the Canadian Gov requires it on R Pods ?

The Canadian Government forced a recall for lights on the fenders and the marker lights up high on the back.  Forest River is asking for a waiver on the ones here without the lights.  They say it will cost too much to retrofit them.  If that happens I guess we are on our own to make our campers legal.

Here is a link to the discussion about it:

Even if we get the retrofit it will not include a 3rd brake light, but it would provide a good location to mount one (just below the new "fin"). I like the idea, nobody behind the car behind you can see the brake lights in its current configuration. Fishing through the wall would be difficult since they have it filled with insulation. From what I've read the retrofit used in Canada does what you describe, Gretchen, and runs the wire over to the rubber cover and then under it. If I have to do the retrofit myself I will probably put running (and now a 3rd brake) lights up on the A/C cover so I can get more visibility and hide the wires better.

That is what I was thinking of also.  I liked your idea on the brake light on the AC cover.

the a/c cover...that is thinking outside the box!!  Thanks for the idea.  I'll have to look at that.  Also interesting if FR is forced to correct this thru a recall, even better!

Thanks Terry.  If you hear about a light recall...I would love to know.

Well, they'll correct the running lights, not the 3rd brake light. But I'm sure you could get your dealer to agree to add one at the same time for an extra $50 (you supply the light).
