Topic: Anode Rod Replacement Posted: 15 Nov 2011 at 8:17am |
I need to replace my anode rod in the hot water heater for my 2011 MPG. Is there a big box store where I can buy it? I don't have a Camping World nearby and I'm afraid to buy one on Amazon since it may not be the right size or thread type. I'm sure RV dealers sell them but they charge twice as much.
Any recommendations? I called Bass Pro Shops, Wal-Mart, And Academy but none of them sell Anode Rods. |

You could order one from Camping World on line. Other than them it probably would have to be a RV dealer or RV supply place.

I think I got an add via e-mail yesterday that CW is offering $5 shipping on everything you order.

You will need a 1 1/16" socket and wrench. The anode has a tendency to build up oxides of both zinc (white) and iron (rust). It took me a good whack on the wrench handle to loosen mine. I made sure to wrap the threads in Teflon tape to help ease the process this winter. If it won't move, try a little WD40 or Liquid Wrench and tap on the end for a while several times. It should loosen eventually.

I agree with Chris and Walt Teflon tape is a must. a little force wont hurt either.

Is the teflon tape supposed to remain on the rod indefinitely?
