Mine set up quite easily until the shock corded aluminum door frame pole failed. The aluminum split, sending the broken ends of the failed pole through the roof of the dome. It lasted about a year.

Yes, we could not do it easily without a step stool either but other than that it is a breeze to set up. We use ours all the time. You will find the suction cups work better if you rub or wash off the road dust. We have a rag for that. I keep it in the plastic jar with the suction cups.

I use a step stool, too - actually it's more of a short ladder.  I'm only 5'3" so I couldn't do it by myself if I didn't have that.

BTW, anyone know where to get new and better suction cups?

I just picked up 3 pkgs (2 in each) from Michaels (Arts & Craft store). Suction cups were large - about 2 1/4" - strong?   soft - good saying power? And had an attached wire hook. About $6 for the lot.

Thanks again Diane, Donna has been talking for weeks about being able to go out, even if just for one evening.

Actually, it's not that hard.  If I can do it myself, you SURELY can!  When it is set up it really is invaluable in rainy weather.  Here's a tip . . . When you take it down and pull it back out of the awning rail be careful not to jerk it across the ends of the rail - you don't want to tear the fabric.

Here's a thread from last year on setting up the dome.
