HI R Podders!! We have just purchased a 2012 Pod Hood River Edition with a R Dome... I can not seem to find info on the screen skirting... Has anyone ever used theirs?   We are going to be spending 5 months in Yellowstone National Park and will definitly use ours.....Thanks

Welcome and congratulations! Know you will enjoy your new Pod and you have come to the right place for information. But as far as the skirt goes, I cannot help you much. I have never used ours, nor even unfolded it. As I recall (and I could be wrong), it is one continuous piece with no cut-out for the wheels or the step. BTW, which Pod did you buy?

Welcome.  I've never used that long screen piece, but others here have found a need to cut some slits in it so it fits around the axle and steps.

We cut slits for ours to fit into the step that way you can leave the step down to go in and out of the pod easily.

I'm not 100%, I'll check when I'm out at the pod next but I think I cut ours in two pieces.  Each piece meets at the axle that way you don't have to go up and around the wheel when attaching it.  If it wasn't something I did last season then I plan to on our first trip out this year.

We camp where there are lots of bugs so we use our skirting all the time.  We slit it horizontally for the step to fit through and later my husband decided to make two section to make it easier to thread on.  Anyplace we cut the screen, we bound with duct tape to keep the edges from fraying.
Congratulations on your new purchase and welcome to the forum.

When you say two sections, you mean a section from each side up to the axle (where they meet)? I plan to cut mine tomorrow ... Glad I saw your comments. Thanks.

Yes, we cut them in two at the axle to make it less bulky and easier to pull through the guide. I think Tom did a good job. It still looks nice and works fine.

We also use ours all the time and cut slits at the axle and the step.  It is not airtight but it does cut down on the volume of bugs we get in.  Citronella takes care of the rest.
