I am curious as to what most podders do for a jack in case you have to change a flat on the pod. I have a little bottle jack I keep in the back storage area, we got a plastic storage box with a snap top lid, I keep the jack, rope, clothes line, duct tape, throw away gloves, water hose, folding camp saw, home made leveling ramps, hatchet. I have a torque wrench that doubles as the lug wrench. Is there a lighter smaller jack than a hydralic bottle jack ?
P.S. I hope none of us has a flat to deal with. Happy Poddin

I use a bottle jack also. I have needed to use it twice for flats on my boat trailer in twenty years. I also used it when installing axle risers on the 177 r-pod. Seems to work fine and has lasted all that time, no problems with leaky seals or anything. I store it in the TV since I need it for two trailers.

good idea Alex, I have a 17 foot Champion bass boat I pull, I should start putting the bottle jack in the T.V. that way i will have it for boat or pod flat, of which I started this spring with. It seems every time I go out for the first fishing trip I have to have some disaster. I was 35 miles from home when the bass boat trailer decided to have a seperated belt in the tire. I pulled over and looked at the egg shaped tire and had to limp 35 miles to a tire store that gladly sold me 2 new trailer tires for $170.00. Donna said " those dog gone fish cost $40.00 a pound, I could have flown to Nassau and had lunch cheaper than that" thanks dear for all of your support.

It's not the cost of the fish, it's the experience.  But in this case sounds like you could have done without the experience too!

I use the Scissor jack that came with my TV. It works fine and I don't have to carry two jacks.

Me too.  Although I do carry a separate lug wrench 'cause the lug nuts on the trailer are different than on my TV.

Well, I say lug wrench... its actually a torque wrench.  I always torque the lugs on the trailer before every trip.

What airline goes to Nassau at that price....let alone with lunch? I'll book it tonight!
My thought is the TV jack is right there, is tall enough to due the job.

I always check the torque on the lug nuts as well. I learned the hard way.  I lost a wheel on a previous trailer. That was not fun. I had a spare tire but the hub was damaged beyond even using it to limp  into town. I had to leave the trailer on the side of the road at 12:00 midnight and go to the nearest town sleep in the truck until an rv place opened so that I could get a new hub. then to an auto parts store to get a socket that would fit the crown bolt on the hub. Then out to the my trailer on the side of the interstate to put on a new hub and limp it back into town to make sure that everything was secure.  All of this 200 miles from home. Since then it is well worth the time to check the lug nuts every trip.

As recommended by many, we are heading out next Friday for our second trip.  With my confidence at an all time high after installing the combo locks on the storage bins, I then proceeded to check the torque on my lug nuts.  Took out my trusty never before used torque wrench, read the instructions and then proceeded to check each one.  They were all nice and tight and at the correct tightness.  Now more confident than ever.  Safe Travels.
