Ok oh wise ones, newby with a question. 1st trip planned in the pod this weekend, first camping trip with indoor plumbing, this 182g is one heck of a step forward from my 15  yr old pop-up.  Anyway, when do you dump the tanks, ie do you always dump them prior to leaving a campground?  I see people saying wait until the black tank is 2/3 or 3/4 full, but i doubt we'll fill it up that much in a weekend. On the other hand I'm not sure I want that crap (pun intended) sitting around for a few weeks until the next trip.  Thanks in advance for all the great advice!

We dump on the way out...no sense worrying bout what might be emitted from tha tank! It also lightens the load for the trip home... Eight pounds a gallon adds up quick!

I am with podsible, one of our favorite spots close to home has a dump station about 3 miles from the camp, this kind of jostles the junk around in the trunk, hook up dump hose, open black water first and when its done gurgling and is done close black water valve and open the grey, this will help rinse the hose out. then rinse the hose out with fresh water if avalable. trust me you dont want that stuff laying in the black tank for a week or so in this heat. yuck.

First... I would suggest a new Rhino sewer hose.. the one that came with our 182G isn't the best. The black tank doesn't fill very quick (we normally use the campground bathrooms except at night)... but the grey tank filled very quickly... contrary to what our RV dealer told us, the garage sink dumps into the grey tank too. We dump the tanks just before we leave... black tank first until it stops running... If we're only 1/3 full or less, we attach a water hose to the hook-up beside the entry door to clean out the toilet (make sure you leave the black tank OPEN with dump lines hooked up). Then we disconnect and move the line over to dump the grey tanks.
I'm a newbie at this too... but i don't think it would be wise to leave "stuff" in the black tank for an extended period.

KDHfan is on track, I got the rhino 15 foot collapsable model, reasonably priced. I goggled the name on the end of my drain hose holder that used to be on the front of the pod under the battery. Called the people, they were very nice a larger tube that holds the rhino was like 18 bucks plus shipping. I moved the larger tube back, it fit between the old tube and the black water drain valve, works perfect. you can't see the holder, I have a longer stronger hose at a very reasonable price. no pun intended.

I dump mine when about 3/4 full. Gotta get risers soon. Tired of playing with the slinky to empty the tank.

We will gennerally wait until 3/4 to dump, even if it takes a couple outings. Never a problem with.. build up.

Unless I think it's the last camp of the year, then we make sure we are 3/4 before breaking camp.. just "top it off" with the flush handle, drive to dump station..

We dump every single trip, even if it was just a weekend getaway.

We'll run the water to fill the tank up and empty both out and prep for next time.  Originally the reasoning was that I didn't want the extra weight sloshing around.  However now that I'm not concerned about that as much I guess it's just become habit.

Are we the only "every trip" dumpers?

Nah.  I also dump the black tank at the end of each trip, no matter how long, or short.  However, we do also have the rinse attachment that was factory installed.  I close the grey water gate, fill the black water tank and when it shows nearly full, I open the black water gate, and let it continue to "flush" until all runs clear.  Safe Travels.

So far, we've dumped each outing. I can't ever foresee us not dumping each trip.
