I have found just opening the cover all the way, fan on high.. little agitation from below on the screen, and any foriegn matter goes out the way it came in... but the screens do all need cleaning from time to time. The first time I pulled that vent screen I was sure I was breaking it..

Thanks for that tip. Hadn't bothered with ours yet. I installed a Maxxaire vent cover which keeps most debris away from the fan    ...but it still gets dusty/dirty in there and I knew that one day I would want to clean it out.

Some dried leaves blew into my vent and settled between the fan blades and screen -very noisy.  Hmmmmm, too many screws to take out from the bottom. ... I'll open the vent hatch and vacuum out from above ... Get the ladder, vacuum, lug it up the ladder ..... Start vacuuming .....

But WAIT! Cry  It looks like the circular vent screen is held in place by several snap-in tabs with a finger slot to open it from below!  Went below and pulled out the screen carefully and firmly.  I cleaned the screen, fan blades and internal housing with a damp paper towel. Nice!

Knowledge is a wonderful thing.
