New here-

Just bought the 2013 RP177 and am towing it with my 2003 Jeep Wrangler Sahara. Far from bone stock, but I can list the upgrades later.

Stayed in it 2 nights in Mayer AZ after buying it in Dewey AZ with me, my wife, chihuahua (cooper) and puggle (Sherman).

First night: 10pm setup. No issues at all. Quiet but a bit chilly in the am so we figure the thermostat is about 4-7* off. No biggie.

Second nitght: Pouring rain... POURING RAIN! Again no issues but we find every time that heater kicks in - we both get woken up. I'll probably just use a little big heat when were not boon-docking.

We headed out towards Pheonix in 25 mph cross winds with 45-50 mph gusts for at least 35 miles. I kept my finger on the brake controller an needed it most of the way.

We're headed to Mesa for the night and then on to either Tucson or Bisbee (our home).

I get tons of looks and lots of questions. This guy is worth EVERY penny.

The wife works via computer and I'm, well I'm the driver and fix it guy.

I hope to find some great articles here on others experiences. I'll also be seriously considering sway bars lol

Welcome to the Forum and to r-podding.  We share your enthusiastic opinion of the r-pod in general, and the 177 in particular.

We camp with a couple of furry companions as well.  We find that the r-dome gives us all the room we need.

Our towing experiences will most likely pale compared to yours-  the Florida Mountains aren't very daunting.  We have definitely invested in a load distributing hitch-  no need for sway control yet-  opinions differ on which should be tried first, and in your environment, you may need both.

We're off to a couple of nights just after Thanksgiving.  Heading for a camp site right on an Atlantic Ocean dune in Gamble Rogers State Park.  It may be cold enough to fire up our heat.  That happens at about 60 degrees in Florida!

Have fun-  Be safe....

Thanks!

Well, we made it down to Phoenix (Mesa actually). Sadly I could only find one park that looked 'safe' from the online reviews. Green Acres in Mesa. VERY much a city park, lotta noises I'm not accustomed to. Planes, helicopters and the like.

May only stay here one night however - there is another RPOD here!

Off to figure dinner then settle in for the night.

Thanks again for the welcome.

In spite of the furnace fan noise, does your Rpod heat up nice and evenly? We had some issues with drafts that our dealer remedied by sealing exterior holes.

We must have been lucky, ours is tight. we normally heat ours with a 1500 watt electric heater. I have got up in the morning with frost on the roof and the outside temp at 28 or so and the inside is 72 or 73 and the little heater comes on and off about every 20 or 30 minutes. The outside walls do seem to be cooler though. Donna sleeps on the back (toward the rear) of our 172. We use the dinette short queen to sleep in, the front 2 bunks are used for top storage and bottom daytime naps. Overall the pod seems easy to heat. maybe I need to add a wood stove in the middle of the pod and call it , "smokin pod"
