We have just returned from our maiden voyage with our new
2013 RP-172. Two Florida State parks,
350 miles at 10.8 MPG, and two setup/teardown sequences. The tow vehicle
is a 2010 Honda Pilot. All went well and everything worked. With the E2
equalizer hitch I couldn’t tell the trailer was there except for the reduced
gas mileage and decreased acceleration.
We special ordered the RP-172 from Bama RV in Dothan, AL August
3 and it took about 10 weeks to receive it, but it was worth the wait. We
ordered it with dual batteries, the RDome, A/C, Microwave, TV, etc. The dealer
installed dual propane tanks and the E2 hitch. The folks at Bama RV were very
knowledgeable and helpful and a pleasure to do business with. I recommend them
if you’re in the area.
Although we are new members, I have been lurking on the
forum for about five months, collecting ideas and comments. Lots of great
ideas, suggestions, and cautions. I
credit the forum members for the success of our first outing.
Mods to date include the 60 inch sewer carrier tube from DW
Inc. and the 15 foot Rhino Superflex sewer kit, Oxygenics shower head and Danco
brass shutoff, dual propane tanks and batteries, hooks, shelves, curtains, and
many more small outfitting things. Just completed installing four 12 volt
sockets to the left and behind the microwave and am now working on bed risers
and tongue mounting the spare tire. Pictures
to follow.
We are glad to be a part of the RPOD community and are
looking forward to many hours and miles in the pod.
