Just picked up our 2019 Rpod 189 , towing with 18 4Runner. So far I only towed it home. Can’t wait to hit the road this weekend.

Just did it and replaced the Santa Fe with a 2018 Colorado Z71. Liked the Santa Fe but hated putting dirty stuff, especially firewood in it. Got a great deal on a dealer loaner model with 3040 miles. Just pulled the 179 around the neighborhood, very nice and great pull.

No plans for WDH as we are going only 20 miles away, but will consider one for next seasons long trips. I had the Equalizer 400/4000, the dealer installed it over another model as it was much lighter. I'm not sure my actual tongue weight was ever less than 400lbs but I never broke the hitch, and it worked well against several very strong side winds.

Learned a lot here, will try to get back more often. Most useful Rpod forum on the web.

Thank you

DreamerTN,

We just purchased a 2019 R-Pod 179 up here in the Northern VA area.  We bought our retirement home in Bristol, TN so we aren't very far from Kingsport.  We won't fully retired for a couple of years (both wife and I retired from the Navy) and looking forward to staying in Bristol part-time and the rest of the time on the road with our POD.

We've owned a tent camper, Travel Trailer, 5th Wheel and Diesel Pusher and decided to downside.  We have a Thule awning POD and for me, the R-Dome looks too complicated to put up.

Feel free to reach out to me and maybe we could get together and talk shop someday!

Now the learning starts.  We’ve been campers our whole life except for the last fifteen years due to my medical issues.  But the Rpod is what we enjoy for as long as God allows.

Any advice is always appreciated.  Plus we will need to acquire goodies like an awning, cover and maybe a good solar panel. Also an Rdome, but that can wait.  We’re not sure how much we would use it just yet.

Feel free to say hello.

Lots of podders in that area.. and welcome.

She came home today.
Seen here looking good behind the Jeep Grand Cherokee Larado.

Currently sitting in my driveway. Yes, I backed it in, first time, no damage, no problems.
Breaking out the walkie talkies for campgrounds.

Been a long long wait since march.

We recently retired our Acura MDX as our tow vehicle and bought a 2018 Chevrolet Traverse.  Here it is just prior to taking our first camping trip with it to Muskellunge State Park on the shores of Lake Superior.  With a Fastway E2 WD hitch and P3 brake controller the Traverse acquitted itself very well and we averaged 13.7 mpg at a steady 65 mph on regular gas.  The Acura required premium gas and average 11-12 mpg.
