Jato,

Same trailer 2015 178, three TVs, one Curt Anti-Sway. Still camping, no issues.

We use a Fastway e-2 round bar WHD with our F-150 and it really tows nicely.  Even in high cross-winds, which we encountered on our last trip to Hope Valley Campground last week, we found the rig stable and smooth.  We used the same WHD when we had our Pod and a Dakota with a 4.7L V8 and it worked very well with it too.  Our trailer capacity is stated by Ford to be 7,800 lbs, but we tow with <60% of that limit.

The hitch is easy to set up, fast to hitch and unhitch, and takes out the sag on the rear of the truck so both the TV and trailer are level on the road.

We also use a Fastway E2 WDH (roundbar version) towing our RP179 with our F-150. We have towed it up and down mountains and north and east on California. It has a friction anti-sway, and it is very stable. No troubles whatever.

We also use a Fastway E2 WDH (roundbar version) towing our RPod 190 with our Chevy Traverse.  Smooth and easy.

So this is a class IV receiver. Rated up to 12,000 lbs, but the pickup I have is at 7700 lbs towing capacity.

So really just trying to find the correct ball for the hitch. I know there are many types that go into the receiver and have adjustments, etc... depending on the application.

You need a 2 inch ball. It needs to have a rating at least as high as the heaviest trailer you want to tow, higher than needed doesn't hurt anything.

The nut needs to be tightened to 250 ft-lbs. which is a lot. They are notorious for getting loose if not torqued properly. So either you need to have it put on your Blue Ox at a shop or you can slide the hitch into the receiver sideways, put your box wrench on the nut, and carefully put your full weight on it. If you weigh 250 lbs stand 1 ft away from the nut, if you weigh 125 then 2 feet, 187 lbs then 1.5 ft, etc.  Its OK to go over a little.

Also, visually checking the ball for tightness should be part of your pre-tow checklist every time you hitch up.

Nice setup.  When was your 177 built?  Ours was built the 1st week of January 2011 and has the serengeti decals.  We were hoping to get the rings like you have, but thought it must have been discontinued after the 2010 year.

I am not really sure....is there a specific build date on the factory stickers somewhere?

I purchased it at an auction last fall and this is our first season with it...if I recall, there was some confusion when I went to register it as the bill of sale had "2010" on it, though it's a 2011 model year....the person who wrote the bill up (at the auction house) was confused over the VIN #.
