USA Today just printed an article that appeared in Consumers Report. It confirmed my feelings after reading numerous articles and reviews about the Big 3, but may surprise some of you.

I couldn't agree more! (Though mine is a 2013)
Interesting note: Prior to this, I had a 2009 Silverado which was identical in every way (mechanical) except it had a 4 speed transmission - rated at 6700lbs towing. The 2013 has a 6 speed transmission and is rated at 9000+lbs towing. I've had it about 3 months now and had the opportunity to tow under varying conditions.
I liked the 4 speed better.....it got about 1 1/2 - 2 mpg better (towing and not towing) and the transmission did not seem to hunt as much. Tow/haul mode was good in the 4 speed but, not so good with the 6 speed - I tow without using it.

We bought our brand new (to us) 2012 Silverado LT / Z71 with under 8000 miles on it, so virtually
a new truck that someone was kind enough to cover the off-the-lot depreciation for us! We love it, and it doesn't even know when there's a 'Pod clamped to its tail!

All three Chevy, Ram and Ford are well built trucks I chose our Ram because it was the least expensive. If money was not a option I am not sure which one I would chose. It is good to know USA built trucks are the top three. David

No winning in the Ford/Dodge/Chevy debate. I also lost a lot of faith in Consumer Reports a few wears ago when they killed a product we made over problems we could never duplicate (and they wouldn't tell us the conditions that caused them. All I can say is when I went to buy my truck I saved a bunch of money with the F150 over similarly equipped Chevys. Dodge was closer in price, but I liked the Ford better.
To each their own. Buy what you like. |

Keith, note that this extract from the report recognizes the Ford F150 is the most popular pickup sold. What it doesn't mention is that the Ford F150 gained much of that popularity because of its price. I share your philosophy of buying what you like.

Recommending the best Pickup truck is worse than recommending the best mattress--you are not going to get ANY agreement. For me, my first car was a Chevy, my first truck was a Chevy, my first new car was a Chevy, my first new truck was a Chevy. Never again! I've owned a Dodge P/U--Meh! I've owned several Ford P/U's and Meh again. So far, so good with Toyotas. Good point K-N-D, To each his/her own. My princess may be your wicked witch.
Vehicle popularity is like the old commercial--"They're so good. That's why I buy so many." Think about it!
