Hi Guys... I recently purchased a used 2009 173 and enjoy it. Everything works but the Sylvania convection/microwave oven, it pops and sparks. I replaced the mica shield but it still doesn't work. Two questions... Has anyone else had problems with the Sylvania microwave? It seems to be discontinued online. Secondly, if I were to replace it, does anyone have a recommendation for an oven (and frame) that will fit the opening?

Thanks!

Our used 2012 177 did not have unit installed. We purchased a Dometic convection microwave that came with the frame at campersworld. Fits perfectly: looks factory installed.

We have a 2010 171 with the Sunbeam microwave it it and it works great. What amp are you plugging into ? We were told when we bought ours,to only use 30 amp service. If you try it on 20 amp it will supposedly malfunction and could melt the plug adapters together. Not sure if that is true.

Hmmm... Thanks! Well, I was testing the whole unit back home, plugged into my home power. I'll have to measure the opening to see if the Sunbeam would fit...

15 or 20 amp service is fine, just make sure to ONLY run one of the big things at a time - A/C, microwave, electric element in the water heater.  Any one of them will be fine.  If you do have 30 amp service only run 2 of those 3 at a time.

We have the Sylvania microwave in our 2009 and have never had a problem with it. We have used it every time we have been camping. Sorry that yours does not work hopefully ours continues to work with out a problem. I think your right they have been discontinued for some reason. Perhaps a Sunbeam would be a good replacement. make sure that you were not using the raised metal plate inside of it while operating on microwave only ... only use the metal plate when operating on convection or combo.

Thanks for all the responses. I took the unit out and tried it in my kitchen. The magnatron seems to be toast. I'll replace it. I may try the Sunbeam if it fits... Other suggestions welcomed.
