The earlier 173 and 173T pods have a convertible jack-knife sofa across the back of the pod.  These were the only 2 models having this particular sofa and both have been discontinued.  It is a great feature, but when in the lowered position, the back is considerably higher than the front half.  Is this typical of this sofa, or just mine?  Although we enjoy the sofa, it turns into a terrible bed.

Our 2010 RP175 has a shorter version of the sofa in the slide, and it, too, is uneven  front to back when lowered. Yes, it is comfortable as a sofa.  Ours is really too small for adults to sleep on unless they're very short like my wife. We put the grandkids on the sofa. Heck, they're young enough that they could sleep comfortably on a board. It could be worse for you. You could have to deal with the factory supplied short queen mattress, and I'm not kidding!

My (ex) RP173's sofa was pretty flat in the down position.  It was a 2010 model purchased in July of 2009.  Although short, I thought it more comfortable than the dinette cushions so, I usually slept on it.
