just purchased 100 ft of vinyl trim.  mine is all cracked.  i read on a previous post how someone installed but it kept coming out.  i cut a 1 ft piece to practice with and it would not stay in the track.  it's the right size (1 inch).  finally realized that it's to be installed upside down as it comes off the roll (if that makes sense).  also the trim that i purchased (camco product) the bubble trim (it is narrower) that forms is not as large as the stock trim.  i guess i am assuming that will be ok as long as the trim stays in and  the track is covered. hope this all makes sense.  any thoughts?  hogone

The trim that I installed in past trailers and motor homes fit tightly in the channels.  Compare a flatten piece of the old with the new, just to be sure they are both 1" wide.  I doubt if you have a problem with the new.

They are definately the same size(1 inch)and does fit tightly in the groove.  It's just the rounded finished part that sticks up is not as large.  Hard to explain exactly what I mean.  Maybe it's because it's new and stiff and will expand when it gets softer in the sun.

Sounds good to me.  As long as it is raised in the center, as yours is, it is pressing against the inside of the channels properly.  Usually this friction fit will hold it in place, but sometimes it tends to creep in the channel.  My pod is in storage so I can't check it, but if yours had a screw at each end, or was doubled up at the ends, or has metal end pieces and a screw at each end, I would use that same method on the new.  I believe I read somewhere that a person applied an adhesive to  the ends.  Newly installed, the vinyl my contract or expand slightly when it becomes acclimated to the channel and the weather.  Give it a few days before fastening the ends.

As someone who is reading various posts thinking about getting a pod, I have to ask. How does the trim all crack on a pod that is a 2013? (or is the year of the pod, shown in your signature, incorrect?).

2013 pod is correct.  no idea as to why the trim cracked.  and i don't mean just a little stretch either.  both sides  and i would say 90% of it.  mine does sit outside and i do not cover it, so i guess maybe just weather??!!  at least it's an easy fix.  hogone

Forest River must have had a bad batch of trim when yours was produced.  I lived in NW Indiana and had no problems with my newer RVs setting outside 12 months of the year.  I do remember replacing the vinyl trim strips on one older Winnebago MH and one pup, but those were due to age. You would think the strips used now are better and would have a longer life.

job complete, easy fix; definitely was easier to install once the pod was in the sun, made the vinyl much more flexible!!
