Forest River had sent me the light package for my Pod.  I took it and the Pod to a dealer and had them install it.  What you see below is after a few months.  Looks like a return visit to that dealer!

You would think that by now Forest River would improve the method of securing the light bars to the pod.  As much as I hate any penetrations into the skin of a pod, it seems that a few (properly sealed) SS or aluminum screws should be spaced across the upper and lower lips of the bar, in addition to a better double-faced tape as a sealant.

Our new 178 should be delivered next week, and that is one item I plan to discuss with the dealer.  I don't went to drive across the state for any warranty work like this.  My dealer is on the east coast, and I assume yours is in Jacksonville.

Terry, would you let us know how your dealer corrects the problem?

Bob

Yowza, I agree that needs to go back pronto.  However, I would make sure they DON'T put any sealant on the bottom edge after it is re-mounted, to allow for drainage.

Sorry about that Terry do you think it was the sun or temperature change that caused it to bow and come loose.  David

Hard to say what caused it.  It was parked in the sun with a cover on it.  I got my Pod in Ohio but it was a locale RV dealer that put it on.  I think maybe the reason it came loose is the light bar was probably made without a curvature to it to match the Pod roof.

Terry, that is a good point about the curvature of the light bar.  Susan (actually Lindsay) sent a light mod kit to my dealer for my 2010 173.  In a later conversation with Susan she told me that they had sent the wrong kit for my particular model.  After waiting about 2 months for the right kit, I traded my pod in on a new 178.

So, apparently FR has more than one model light bar for the pods.  I wonder if they sent you the correct model.

I don't have the paper work that came with it so I wouldn't know.  Could be though.

This is the reason I made and installed my own light bar.

If you want something done right, do it yourself.

Yours will have a completely different light bar, it will be glued and screwed and caulked. It will not run side to side like the retrofit bars do. So far my reto bar has held up fine and stayed in place, except a little gappage at the top that FR took care of at Goshen. If it comes up again, I will redo it myself with better double sided tape. From what I have seen, it seems that several maybe weren't properly cleaned before the adhesive was activated. And I know at least one that the dealership didn't know how to use the activator..
