Furpod,

Thanks for the insight.  This doesn't seem to be animal damage or road debris damage.  The holes are symmetrical in shape and the same exact depth.  It seems that someone was trying to drill some access holes into the cabin and goofed.

It seems RV manufacturing standards seem to be low compared to planes, boats, cars, etc.  I wouldn't purchase a car with holes in the floor board, even if it was a "Yugo".

If I had cut the holes myself, that would be one thing but I wouldn't expect this on a brand new unit.

Other things seem to be a little off also.  The majority of screws that connect the water tank brackets don't seem to be screwed in straight or screwed in all the way.  I was thinking positively and thought that might be for expansion reasons but now suspect it is just piss poor work.

My 2 cents.

Cody

I don't have much experience with other campers, except looking at them while contemplating which one to buy.  R-Pods are pretty well up there in terms of quality, by my observation.  They have good customer service and a good warranty, but your observation about not being built to the same standards as planes, boats and even cars seems about right.  Campers don't fall out of the sky or sink usually-- though that's not a great excuse for sloppiness.  I've seen some sloppiness in mine, but nothing that matters really.  Still, this is not the quality one would expect from a Berkshire Hathaway company based on their reputation.

As others have said, you seem to have found some odd-ball manufacturing quirks.  Should they be there?  No.  Are they worth worrying about?  Almost certainly not.  Use some silicone caulk or some expanding foam or something to fill the holes and forget about them.

Watch the amazing Plast-Aid video/demo (see all of it) on this link:

 http://www.plast-aid.com/

It seems to be good for patching & sealing almost everything on RVs, boats, etc. Not a spray-on product.  Strong, machinable, and paintable when dry.

Although I have not yet had occasion to use Plast-Aid, it comes highly recommended over on the Moto Guzzi group I frequent:

I have thought the same in all that you said. There is very little concern in management overseeing production. The workers are rushed and have little training or they just don't care. For the quality you get in buying a motor vehicle dollar for dollar the RV industry doesn't come close. You need to be capable of doing repairs yourself or it will cost you a lot of money down the road once your warranty runs out.
