The DW and I picked up our Pod on Monday!  Still checking it out and trying to get it outfitted for our first trip on Memorial Day afternoon.

One bummer is that someone at the dealership tried to close the door while it was still hooked to the door open latchCry.  They are getting us a new door since it fractured the fiberglass on the door.  There is also a scar on the control panel of the refrigerator, and they said they would replace that as well.  Other than those items, she is beautifull!

Has anyone replaced the previously mentioned door latch?  I can see myself doing the same thing!  It should be a passive latch that will release the door if enough pressure is applied.

I've been looking at the modification section and have seen a lot of cool things that I want to do to  enhance this already well-equiped Pod!

Anyway, if you are in the Pacific Northwest area keep a sharp lookout for a silver Escape pulling a Pod, cause it's been quite a while since I've pulled a trailer!LOL

Yep- the door latch has been noted- a bonehead move by FR. Wink
There are other latches that will release, I'm looking into maybe making a magnetic latch for my 179.
The neodymium magnets are pretty amazing, I've used them for other things, like holding removable pins on my tractor so I don't lose them.
Fabbing up something attached to the fender that will hold and release when needed shouldn't be too hard, and it adds a few more degrees of door opening.

Off topic- TriumphRider?   I ride a DL1000 Vstrom myself....

D'oh!  Why didn't I think of that!  I've been using them on a bunch of things as well.  Maybe somehow affixing one to the rubber door bumper and a small ferrous plate on the door...

I ride a '04 Speedmaster pretty much year-round.  I have heard really good things about the V-Stroms!

If the door comes into contact with the fender, what about just mounting a maget to the door?  Stainless steel usually doesn't have great magnetic properties but a neodymium magnet might be strong enough.

Old Hippy, welcome.
