Calendar Event: Feedback on slide outs Posted: 24 Jul 2014 at 10:03pm |
Question to owners of models with slide outs:
Are you satisfied with the slide-out?
Any pointers if we buy a 178?
Many thanks to all,

I have a 2014 Rpod 178 and I really like the slide out. We typically sleep 3 in the pod and having the slideout just gives a little extra room to move around.

What Cody 91 said!
I was concerned about reliability, but have had no problems to date. And we have run it in & out many times already.

Thank you, we had a 171 and liked it a lot but was so small and before buying a 178 we were concerned about the reliability of the slide-out.great to know you had no problems

I've had no reliability issues or leaks with the slide-out so far. It's a little noisy when it operates but that's about it. My only other gripe with the 178 is that it could use a little more storage space. I'm in the process of putting a shelf over the bed.

I've had no issues with my slide-out. But- in years past I have done a lot of repair work to slide-outs in my dad's various motorhomes. Everything from broken pinion gears, burned out motors, stripped gear racks, broken shear pins. I hope they have improved a lot- so far so good for my 179 with the Schwintek system.

So far so good. The slide out really adds to the open space!

We have a 182G with slide no problems. You do want to wipe the top down before bringing it in. And having had motor homes with slides for 14 years, will say if you camp with freezing temperatures, we always left the slide in. We cracked a hose on a Fleetwood motor home due to temperatures dropping in the 20's during the night and we were leaving the next morning early. Bringing it in caused the damage because every thing was frozen.
