You can go to your local library and look for a book how to fix a travel trailer! Confused  You may have your best help from this forum from those who own r-pods. I don't think there is anything about the r-pod construction that someone on this forum doesn't understand and would happy to be of help.

Thanks furpod and techntrek for your calming and encouraging words. We have owned our share - *ahem* maybe more - of homes on wheels. And my wonderful hubs is very handy and has and will do all the small incidental things that can be wrong or quirky. It is the big things we are concerned about -a/c, fridge, major systems...

We are glad to find support here and a wealth of knowledge on such a specific product.

Our next dilemma is to figure out which model is best for us. The ones in the running (in order) are 179, 178 and 182G. Keep jumping back and forth and back again!!!

Both forums have classifieds, and the FB group has an "event" called.. "pods for sale".. I would check those, maybe craigslist..

Melissa, we're not too far from you (Bryan/College Station) and ran into many of the same frustrations as you where RPod dealerships are concerned.  We ended up buying from Couch's in Ohio.  Podster, in San Antonio, ended up buying his from Cheyenne in Iowa.  As you say, the $3K plus in savings is tough to ignore.

As far as warranty work is concerned, there are plenty of FR dealers around and they're capable of doing warranty work on Pods even if they don't sell them.  And you have a Camping World right there on 35. I'm no expert but I doubt that there's much on a Pod that a competent RV tech hasn't seen before.  So, to my way of thinking, all I'm really looking for is a good Forest River (not necessarily an RPod) dealership.

Long story short, we just concluded that (a) we're under warranty and (b) FR is at least as reputable a name in the RV world as most and, if necessary, will steer us to where we can get any problems solved. Maybe I'm being naive but we just decided not to worry too much about it.

Good luck in your search.  As for us, we're getting ready for our second outing next weekend. Smile

Hey Luv2Q!

Thanks for sharing your experience and take on this. It helps me feel like we aren't silly for shopping long distance.

And with 3 known Pod owners (ok, we will be soon) sounds like we need to organize a Texas Pod rally!

Yep, and we've got a few good months of TX camping between now & next summer.  Let's do it! Big smile

I know! The weather is just getting to the temps that make camping tolerable around here! I know as soon as our Pod hits our driveway we will be ready to hit the trail
