Our smoke detector started beeping. Opened the detector and found no 9V battery. Put in a new battery. Still keeps beeping. Any fixes?

It isn't the smoke detector. My bet is your battery is low for the pod, and it's the propane detector.

It is the smoke detector beeping. Thanks, just reposted this question under maintenance tips.

If there was no battery it wasn't beeping. I agree with Furpod. I had the same trouble when we first got ours.

i'm going to slightly (just a little!!!) disagree hear. a smoke detector can beep for a period of time even after removing the battery. but i agree, i don't think this is the problem as campingnut mentioned it did not even have a battery in it to begin with. hogone

You have 3 detectors in the pod, smoke, carbon monoxide, and propane. Propane is the only one that is hardwired, and usually when people think they have a beeping smoke detector, they actually have a beeping propane detector because it "alarms" at about 11.5v for some reason. I have never had a smoke detector or cO detector that gave more than 1 or two beeps after the battery was removed.
The smoke detector can be removed by giving it a counter clockwise twist. Remove it from the pod, take it in the house. If it's still beeping, with a new battery in it, replace it. The pod is a very small space and it's often very hard to tell where a beep might be coming from. |

Since this thread is in the wrong location, but the OP already started an identical thread in the correct location, let's move the discussion there...
