There are east Texas Winery's in that are as well to check out. For day trips.

Perfect, all we need now is some green grass, bare feet, and a kite!

All the reservation information is right here: TPWD: State Park Reservations

11 months (333 days) in advance so we could be booking now for October. All we need to do is choose a time and go for it!
Oct 21-24 ( Wednesday - Saturday Leaving Sunday ) ? 4 nights? Or??? Is that enough or do you want to stay the whole darn week there?

We should be booking now if possible (weekends get booked really really fast in these parks), if you have to cancel it will only cost you 5 bucks!

hogone, furpod, techntrek, kymosses, bueller, bueller, bueller, y'all coming out to Texas?Thumbs Up

Tyler is a good choice in my book. You can reserve "a spot" at any state park for a particular date if one is a available. You are correct, from that point on its FCFS. We usually get to the park as early as possible and snag a good spot. If it is occupied at the moment, we just hang out until the current occupants leave. Techincally campers have the spot until 2pm, but most of the time they leave earlier than that.

If we can agree on a date soon, we can plan our other trips accordingly. Looking forward to meeting some Podders!

Just do Wed-Sun, Oct 21-24th as suggested above. If someone want's to come earlier in the week or stay later than Sun and hang out  it's their option to do so. It's all about having fun !
IMHO ... :)

Ok, I'm going to take a poll to see how much interest we have...

Wed-Sun, Oct 21-24th sounds fine to us.  As mentioned, coming earlier and/or leaving later are always options but 10/21-10/24 sounds like a good time frame to build on.  Count us in.

And MissyBuck, congratulations on your pretty daughter's engagement.  Very nice pic of her & her beau on FB.  An exciting time for Moms & Dads as well as daughters!  Hope our little Podding adventure won't interfere.

Thanks John :) she is our baby girl and it has been a special Christmas for us.   Right now their plans are spring of 2016, so October 2015 should be good for us. I cast my vote in the poll!

Be sure and check with your park, many places will allow a special rate, and sometimes will give a window to Rallies where they will block off certain areas of sites so that you can all be together.

Glad to see this coming together so quickly, great job Podders!

Probably more so for private parks...however, that's OK because we can have a scheduled meet and greet, then from there some fishing, boating, hiking, biking, wine sippin, and maybe even a dart and/or a washer throwing tournament. Big smile Heck we might even do some sittin round the camp fire and a strummin and a pickin. Eatin beans and a Embarrassed, well you know...John? you brining your guitar?

I believe the only way to hold anything at all in a Texas State Park is to lay down the cash. Besides, it complicates things. I like the idea of keeping it simple, if you want to camp, just make a reservation and show up!Smile

I am hoping that we will get some campers in tents, and want to stay in cabins or screened shelters as well...think Woodstock! Wink

Some folks that have always wanted to make the trek to the Canton Trade Days (the "Disney World" of Trade Days)...  First Monday Canton  ,a big big deal in this area, may want to extend their stay to include Halloween weekend as well. BOO!Star
