 Has anyone tried to set up their 178 with more than one tank?

Many people have added dual tanks. The model number doesn't matter, they all have the same tongue area.

I was thinking of adding a second tank, but a friend of mine said, why carry the extra weight all the time. When you know you will need a second just bring one with you and exchange when your first one is almost empty. Seemed like a good idea, what do you think Mark?

Papabear, 
I am going to replace my 20lb propane tank with an Aluminum 30 lb tank. t will fit into the same place as my 20 lb tank. They are a little expensive bit lighter than a steel tank & they weather better.
I believe it will cost me $180 for the tank & $60 for an internal guage which displays the propane level in the tank.

In my experience, they always run out in the dark, while raining, with a bear in the park.. lol. I used a auto switchover regulator, so it's seamless to us.

On a three-week trip boondocking, I just throw an extra 20 pd. propane tank in the back of the pickup.  One on the pod, one in the truck, and a smaller one for the grill.   That way, I can leave the extra 20 pounder at home on briefer trips of say a week with the small grill tank as a backup.

I vote for one 30lb tank.  Changed mine early least year, and I still have about a third tank left after 4 trips with it. I also purchased a Y-splitter for the tank so i could also grill from it on my Weber.
