I remember seeing a mod that included drawers under the bunks on a 172. Now I can't find it. Anyone have any info on doing that? It makes sooooo much sense for access to that storage

We did it on our 176 which is just a 172 with a slide. Just removed the material beneath the bunk, built a frame and a drawer. Oh, we previously removed the top bunk since there is just the two of us. We still have the jacks on the bed, so we can lift to get to the other storage that we do not use as much.
