Here is an easy mod for those with pets that like to push on the screen door. Dixie was doing this, causing the screen to come loose. Besides being annoying, it could potentially allow her to escape! I wanted something that would not restrict air flow so, plexiglass or metal was out. Plexiglass would have presented a cleaning issue - with constant "nose prints" to keep clean. Thanks to a front porch project, of last year, I already had the answer. Below is the finished mod.

The lattice material came from the local Lowes store and is sold in 2X8 or 4X8 panels. It is a plastic material(PVC?) that is easily cut to size with tin snips. Best of all, it requires no painting and is easy to clean.

With the rubber spline (that holds the screen in) being on the outside of the door, the screen material was easy for Dixie to push out.

Once cut to size, the material can be "snapped" into the existing "channels" of the screen door on each side. There are no "channels" at the top or bottom. For now, I used some tape to keep it from being loose. During my next trip to Lowes, I'll get some Velcro - so I can easily remove the panel for cleaning.

Now, Dixie is more secure, I'm not constantly fooling with the bottom screen, I still get good air flow and, I can remove it for periodic cleaning. Plus, Dixie can still look out and watch the critters and goings on.
