If I have to change a flat will the stabalizer jacks be suitable? If not, are there jack locations on the trailer frame for my car jack?

No, that are not made to be used for that. We carry a small floor jack, had our mechanic mark an X where we should jack it up from.

Floor jack? That sounds like a lot of weight and storage.
Thanks for you speedy reply. |

The trailer stabilizers are not to be used to jack the trailer (read warning notices posted on the stabilizers). I bought an 8 ton bottle jack which is relatively inexpensive, compact, and not too heavy. The location to place the jack is a bit of a science project but you can search this forum for information regarding this. The main thing is to make sure the load is transferred to the frame and not just the torsion axle. I would recommend you try it at home first to make sure you have everything you need (a short wood plank or two under the jack may come in handy). I also had to buy a thin wall 13/16" deep socket to be able to reach the recessed lug nuts on my 179. I bought a 24" breaker bar to keep in the trailer for emergency tire change and I do check the lug nut torque (100 ft-lbs) before leaving on every trip. As a side note, I also keep an extra 3/4" socket in the trailer for the nuts on the spare tire carrier which are not the same size as the wheel lug nuts.
Good Luck

It is a small one, probably 2' long, fairly compact. Ride in the back well of our Grand Caravan. We also carry the 3/4 inch and 13/16 " sockets for the lug nuts. Just in case. Plus a tire patch kit to plug a nail hole or something simple to get it off the highway.

I have also wondered about the best location to jack it up. Can anyone post the exact location (ideally with a pic)?
Sorry if it has been discussed, but the search process often doesn't yield the expected results.
