We tow our 179 behind our Grand Caravan, we have towed in the Mountains of Vermont and the eastern PA, so for we have not had any problems. Though the mountains here go between 2000-4000 ft. Haven't done any of the big mountains out west yet.

I recently purchased a 179. So far it does fine behind my Jeep Wrangler. I'm never in a hurry. Haven't done mountains yet.

Congrats on finding one that works for you. You are welcome to stay - many stay after selling their pod (I sold mine in January), and we even have a few members that never owned a pod!

We just bought a 1996 Nash model 21W. We wanted a max of 18' (plus tongue) but always-made beds for three. Seems like trailers have gotten longer recently. This is perfect - small enough for a weekend jaunt but good for long trips, with a rear bedroom plus a bunk and a dry bath.
Our friend's R-Pod started our search, but we were won over by Nash's high quality and four-season build, so we were glad to find this. It needs cosmetic refreshing but is mechanically sound (love the stove with oven and large 2 door Norcold fridge). And two entry doors, too. I hate to leave this forum - y'all are so friendly and helpful! Happy trails...Pam |

Yes, indeed - what a beautiful state this is! We're going to start our road trips with the goal of visiting every county in the state - great scenery, parks and campgrounds, and fun map-and-journal work with the 8-year-old.
I am so glad that we don't have to worry about towing. Although I probably shouldn't say this out loud on an R-Pod forum , we've been looking at other brands of trailers now that we can tow more. I like my creature comforts and want a dry bath and little more space. |

Hey Nana, think about this: the North Cascades, the Olympics, Mt. Rainier, Stevens Pass, White Pass. Columbia gorge, Mt. St. Helens, etc.--all 2 lane highway areas with few turnouts or passing lanes. You cannot tow our state without hitting tough pulls. Now aren't you glad you don't have to worry about towing with a marginal tow rig? This is a great region for camping, enjoy!

We had a 178 that was towed with a 2009 Frontier. Not enough power for the wind in southern Alberta so upgraded to a 2012 Titan. No regrets. We now have a 179 and the Titan pulls it great.
