I live in Central Texas. That basically means 'winter' is about 10-20 days below freezing, the random snow flurry and maybe 1 or 2 "ice days" which are usually excuses for a 3 day weekend when the teachers have had it with the kids.
Anyhow, I plan to continue to use my camper a couple times a month. So, the question is, what kind of winterizing, if any, do you other folks do who live in similar climates - especially if you're planning to use the trailer over the winter months? I guess i'm curious if there are things I can do to insulate the trailer after each use or other areas I need to drain between uses to protect the trailer from the occasional cold spell. thanks |

San Antonio here. I just winterized yesterday. I use the blowout method with pink stuff in the traps. I also remove the battery (since I cannot keep it plugged in) and connect it to a float\de-sulfinate unit to keep it in tip-top shape during the off season.
You can camp with the unit winterized, many Podders do. You get all the comforts less the water works. There is not really much (reasonably) that you can do to insulate the POD water parts from freezing resulting in damage, hence the winterization. Here is an exceptional video by a fellow Podder that specifically demonstrates the blowout method. One note of Caution: Make sure you de-pressurize the system BEFORE attempting to remove the anode rod. Good luck Sir, |

Also see the link in my signature for a checklist. The UPDATED checklist ensures there is no pressure in the system before you remove the anode rod!
