Topic: electrical outlets Posted: 25 Feb 2016 at 8:15pm |
Just took my 2016 179 out of winter storage.None of my interior or exterior outlets nor my vent fan have power.Everything else works. It's too late and dark to check now but would all these be on the same circuit? could it be a breaker tripprd or a fuse blown? Anybody have any ideas?

Nope, 120v (AC) outlets are hot only if plugged into shore power.
The vent fan in the bathroom is on the 12v (DC) circuit. So are the lights, Heater Fan, Water Pump, and Fridge, HWH, and Heater Controls.
Now that said, the POD on board batter charger / converter will supply 12v to the system when plugged into shore power.
2 questions for you:
1. What is the status of your 12v battery?
2. Did you leave the battery on the POD connected during long term storage?
3. When you tried your fan today and the plugs...did you have the POD plugged into shore power?

OK, well did you reconnect the battery? Red to + and while to - ? If this was even reversed for a split second it's like the two 40amp fuses that protect against reverse polarity are blown.
But that doesn't explain why the 120v plugs didn't work. One of the outlets is a GFI so check that and reset it if it needs it.
If you did not reconnect the battery, keep in mind that the POD battery leads are hot when plugged in to shore power and if they are shorting, that can cause problems.

It sounds to me like your shore power is not getting into your POD, if everything checks out on the POD it maybe a bad extension cord or a tripped house breaker. Double check that because your systems suggest no shore power feeding and a dead 12v battery.

Oh good, nice to have an electrician in the family. Good luck and please report back and let us know the outcome so we can learn from it as well. Good luck!

Oh and by chance, have you recently had a new 30amp plug wired into your house wiring for the POD?
I ask because we have had several Podders hire a certified electrician to do this only to damage the POD electrics because of an error with 220v to the new plug. The reason is that Dryer 220v plugs look very similar to RV 30 amp 120v plugs and some electricians are not familiar with the difference.
