Looks like Jayco is following Winnebago with an r-pod knockoff in 2017 that they are calling the Hummingbird, but it includes a window in the door and electric retractable awning.  (Stolen from the Facebook group.)

Looks like they are cloning the 177, 179 and 180.  Wonder what other nifty features they have that the r-pods don't?  Looks like a nicer propane tank cover (dual tank?) and I can't tell if the hitch jack is electric or not, but it looks electric.  2-year warranty is nice.

Forest River must have a winner.  First the MPV, then the Winnie drop  and now this.

The RV dealer I bought mine from said the Rpod outsells every other single axle they carry.  The 178's sell as fast as they hit the lot. The other manufacturers are desperate to glom on to the craze. It will be interesting to see if this is a blatant enough ripoff for FR to file a lawsuit.

Notice that the wheels/fenders do not stick out from the sides.  It looks like it's wider than the R-pod.  That's a double-edged sword.  More room would be nice, but I like the rearview visibility I have with the Pod.  I don't need extra-huge towing mirrors to see behind it.

Also, they seem to have full-size awnings on them.  That would be nice.  We miss that from our old popup.

The 17RK is a dead ringer for the layout of the 179. I don't see Forest River letting this go unchallenged.

I noticed that, right down to the shape of the countertop.

The 17RB is likewise for the 180.

Good catch.  I would prefer the wider stance on some pods and figured they would come out with an 8' wide floor plan eventually (surprised they haven't).  That extra foot on either side is a big deal.  Room for a dry bath, and a walk-around Queen bed.
