It was suggested in another thread that a wiki-type capability to the site might be helpful for posting common content from historical threads that could be searchable and generally available at a higher level than threads. I offered my services if this seems like something that would add value. So, post here if you have any thoughts on this. (For those that may not be familiar, the wikipedia site is likely the most well-known wiki site. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Main_Page

Thank you for the kind offer, Liz!

Hopefully, we will get a number of comments from the membership.

What content do you want to put into the wiki?

Organizing material around the thread topics might be a place to start. For instance, a 'Tips & Maintenance' (T&M) category might collect all good answers from any of the threads. A 'Pod-Mods' category could have mod pictures & install/construct/modify instructions. There could be sub-categories, e.g. T&M-Solar, T&M-Wheels, T&M-Towing, Mods-Kitchen, Mods-Storage, Mods-uDome. I'm just making this up, the first step would be to find a set of starting content & then see how the categories shake out.

The pod instruction manual posts would seem like a natural fit for wiki content.

There are so many questions, so many (different) answers. I have always found the the forum search function works very well. When that doesn't get me the info I want, I Google the forum:

https://www.google.com/search?q=black+tank+site%3Ahttp%3A%2F%2Fwww.rpod-owners.com&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8

It's a noble effort to create a wiki. Just not sure every question has the right answer.

My hesitation is about the work necessary to keep it up-to-date.  It will be a big job for whoever does it (not me - already have a full schedule).

The initial effort isn't too bad & the idea behind a wiki is that people contribute. It's not so much to give 'right' answers, but to make information more available. But if the search function works well across the full site then that could be enough for folks.

I have been spending a lot of time reading hundreds of posts on this forum to learn all I can about camping with an rpod. Something a wiki could provide is a place for terminology definitions and a structured place for all the concepts an rpod owner should know. The forum search is great, but you have to know what you are seeking. Maybe a wiki can start as a place where the names, components, and systems can be defined for an rpod. Enabling a person new to this topic to ask the right questions and to understand better the answers.
